There’s been big news brewing around here for weeks now, and I’m excited that I finally have the opportunity to spill the beans: CodeGarage has been acquired by Automattic, and our backup and security service will be taken over by the VaultPress team.
The 2 years we’ve spent building CodeGarage have been incredible — often terrifying, but always exciting. We’ve got a number of incredibly loyal customers who have been with us right since the beginning — enduring the many stops and starts of a young, bootstrapped business. I’d like to personally thank you, and every site owner who gave us a chance (and at times, a second chance). Without you, we’d be nowhere.
Teaming up with Automattic presents an incredible opportunity, given their expertise in infrastructure, scaling, and trust within the WordPress community, and we’re very excited to move forward with it.
What does all of this mean for you, and the service? For the very immediate future, nothing — it will be business as usual. Your sites will continue to be backed up and scanned, and we’ll be available for support as always. We’ll be announcing more details as they’re finalized — but rest assured that we’ll make sure to give plenty of warning before we make any changes that will affect you. We think of our earliest customers as our most precious resource and want you to be fans and recommending us to your friends for many years to come.
From Mark and I both — thank you for your trust, patience, and patronage. We’re looking forward to even better times to come.
